If you’re following me on social media, you know that I have been battling acne on my jawline since last year. It might be caused by my move from upstate NY to one of the most populated and contaminated cities in the world, but my skin has been through a lot ever since. The good news is that I am finally getting my acne under control. It was a matter of finding the right products for my skin, using micellar water on my skin to wipe off the NYC mineral water residue, finding the right esthetician and visit her every two months for a facial, and try my best to follow a diet that wouldn’t trigger any unwanted breakouts.
The last time I went for a facial, I mentioned to the esthetician that I was having trouble fading the acne marks that are a result of popping pimples improperly, it’s something that should never be done but everyone does in an emergency. The esthetician recommended I try a chemical peel and I scheduled the three sessions for when I knew I wouldn’t have many plans that required makeup.
The first session consisted of a complete skin analysis and the application of a product to open my pores. This product stung for a few seconds but the sensation faded within 3 minutes. Next came the extractions of any blackheads I had so that the peel ingredients could better be absorbed. The final steps included the application of the actual peel and later a vitamin c mask to hydrate the skin. I will provide a better description of the peel in future entries, it wasn’t at all relaxing and I will be sure to share videos and pictures to better illustrate the process.
